Paktya borders the Pakistani-Ruled Tribal Areas of North Waziristan and Kurram. Like most of the traditional Pashtun eastern areas of Afghanistan, the Durand Line that marks the border with Pakistan is "drawn on water", and residents move freely between the two countries.
Border police stations are designed to control the Afghanistan region and will be left to Afghan people. In addition to areas being unsecure also the terrain is though. This region has very tough mountains and the climate is challenging. The local material availability is limited. And there is no logistic services except the contractor’s trucks.
